Russians have always been a bit eccentric, but, could eccentric mean adopting a bear?
Well, the answer might be yes, because believe or not, this russian couple, Svetlana and Yuriy Panteleenko, adopted an orphaned bear 23 years ago and are still having quite a great life with this “wild pet”.
Svetlana and Yuriy adopted Stepan – the bear – when he was 3-month-old after finding him abandoned in a very bad condition by hunters.
They took care of the baby bear and saved him from death.

Stepan is 23 years old now, and he is absolutely enjoying his life with Svetlana and Yuriy. He has become a family member, and he has many daily habits just like humans such as: watching TV, drinking tea, gardening, reading… and EATING. And I wrote “eating” with capital letters because this bear eats 25 kg of fish, vegetables and eggs everyday!
Living with a bear is not cheap, for sure.
Isn’t just lovely how this couple is taking care of a sweet wild animal and making him happy while others kill these beautiful species?
