Chata Gil is a Californian living in Los Angeles with a heart of gold. When she visited her family in El Salvador, she was shocked to see how many dogs were abandoned on the streets. As a result, she chose to help a stray dog that everyone avoided because of his appearance.
A dog wandered from table to table in a restaurant looking for food. Everyone called the dog “ugly” and sent it away without showing any emotion. Many people disapproved of Chata’s decision to be an exception and feed the dog; some even mocked her, but that didn’t stop her.

After the man left, Chata couldn’t stop thinking about the dog and started looking for him. When Chata found the dog curled up and abandoned on the street, she decided to take him, but she was too scared because she thought they would hurt him.

The lady fed the dog again to regain his trust. She then arranged for the dog to be taken to the vet by the Miracles of Love Association in El Salvador. After the veterinary examination, Chata saw that the dog was doing much better than its appearance suggested. Initially, she considered euthanizing the dog to stop its obvious distress.

Chata contacted the animal rescue organization Saving Huey Foundation in the United States to help the dog, who would later be named “Sal”. Chata planned to return to this country in a few days.
Sal is being treated in El Salvador until he makes a full recovery and is transferred to Southern California.

Sal’s rescue group contacted Tracy Lystra, a member of the Saving Huey Foundation team, who has been following Sal’s case and paying the vet fees through Paypal.
